The Department of Chemistry at Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology was established to teach the basic and fundamental aspects of chemistry to undergraduate students in various core engineering departments since the inception of the erstwhile Rajshahi Engineering College in 1964. Over time, the department has expanded its focus by initiating postgraduate programs (M. Phil and PhD) in 2003 to foster research activities and enrich the expertise of faculty members.   In 2019, the department introduced its M. Sc. program, successfully enrolling several students in the academic year 2019-2020. Since the establishment of the postgraduate programs, the department has produced a significant number of graduates who are contributing their skills and knowledge to various government, autonomous, and non-government/private institutions within the country.  

The department is currently facilitating research in diverse areas of chemistry, including Inorganic and Coordination Chemistry, Organic and Food Chemistry, Electrochemistry, and more. The presence of state-of-the-art structural and laboratory facilities is enhancing the department's research capabilities, aiming to produce skilled professionals who can serve the nation with distinction and contribute to its success and glory.  

Furthermore, the department is actively seeking local and international projects to enhance its research activities, aiming to further develop skilled manpower to serve the nation successfully and gloriously. This proactive approach aligns with the department's commitment to advancing research and education in the field of chemistry.
